Dr. James Samwel Ngocho is a medical doctor and infectious disease epidemiologist, currently the Head of the Department and a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics at KCMC University. He is also a Research Scientist at the Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI) and the KCMC–Duke University Collaboration, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Global Health at the Duke Global Health Institute.

His research focuses on tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, and respiratory tract infections, particularly in resource-limited settings. As a Fogarty Emerging Global Leader (K43) Fellow, he is leading a national study to develop a clinical decision support algorithm for managing respiratory tract infections in children in Tanzania.

Dr. Ngocho is the Investigator of Record for several NIH-funded clinical trials under the IMPAACT and ACTG networks, as well as TB clinical trials funded by PanACEA and he contributes to regional academic leadership as a member of the Research Subcommittee of the African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth).
