Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Welcome to the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. We equip students and researchers with the methodological tools to ask strong research questions, generate reliable evidence, and turn data into actionable decisions for health systems in resource-limited settings.

It is evident that a strong study design and sound biostatistics can change clinical practice and policy. Our faculty bring expertise spanning epidemiological methods, advanced biostatistics, data science and artificial intelligence, implementation research, and the coordination of major clinical trials. We are proud to mentor the next generation of Tanzanian clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, data scientists and implementation scientists. We warmly welcome students and collaborators who share our commitment to scientific excellence and real-world impact.
