Dr. Marion Sumari-de Boer is a Lecturer at KCMC University and a research Fellow at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD). Her research specializes in evaluating digital health tools and implementing point-of-care viral load testing to improve HIV treatment outcomes among children and adolescents in East Africa, while currently expanding her portfolio into the intersection of wildlife, conservation, and human health. 

Dr. Sumari-de Boer translates her extensive research expertise into higher education as a faculty member and Lecturer at KCMC University, where she teaches and mentors the next generation of medical and health sciences students. She is currently concluding her impactful research as an EDCTP Senior Fellow, which included leading formative research and a clinical trial on customized digital adherence tools for youth living with HIV. 

Dr. Sumari-de Boer also serves as the Principal Investigator for the EA-PoC project, a multi-country implementation study evaluating point-of-care viral load testing across East Africa. She has supervised ten PhD students and more than twenty MSc students across Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda. In addition to her ongoing commitment to child and adolescent health, Dr. Sumari-de Boer is expanding her academic scope by deepening her research on the interconnected dynamics of wildlife, environmental conservation, and human health.
