Diversity of Experiences

Rose Mwangi is a Bioethicist with a strong foundation in Behavioral Science, Gender Studies, and qualitative methodologies, dedicated to advancing ethical research practices within the global health landscape. Currently a faculty member in the Department of Behavioral & Social Sciences, she teaches Bioethics, and has served as Co-Chair of the Institutional Review Board at KCMC University.
Rose plays a leading role in curriculum development, mentorship, and capacity building initiatives in bioethics. She actively mentors researchers on ethical conduct in clinical research through projects such as REMIND-KID study and the EAPOC projects, initiatives based at the Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute KCRI) which focus on evaluating digital adherence tools to support HIV treatment retention among children and adolescents in Tanzania and Rwanda.
Her work is grounded in a commitment to promoting culturally responsive, socially accountable, and equity-driven bioethics across Africa, with the goal of strengthening the ethical foundations of global health research.
