Ms. Laura J. Shirima is a faculty member in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at KCMC University, currently pursuing her PhD at KCMC University under the Sub-Saharan Africa Consortium for Advanced Biostatistics (SSACAB) scholarship.

She is a statistician with demonstrated expertise in data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation, with advanced proficiency in Stata, R, and SPSS. She holds strong expertise in both observational and experimental epidemiological study designs, spanning quantitative and qualitative research. Her experience covers the full research cycle, including proposal development, electronic data collection, analysis plans, and technical report writing.
Shirima’s primary research interests lie at the intersection of adolescent health, maternal and child health, and advanced statistical modelling, with a particular focus on longitudinal data analysis and survival modelling.
She is known for her ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and deliver high-quality work within diverse multicultural research environments.
