Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2027/28

Applications are now open for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships
for the 2027/28 academic year.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO),
the scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals from eligible
low and middle-income Commonwealth countries to undertake
full-time taught Master’s study at a UK university.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

• Be a citizen of, have refugee status granted by, an eligible
  Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
• Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Be available to begin academic study in the UK by September 2027.
• By September 2027, hold at least an upper second-class (2:1)
  first degree, or a lower second-class degree together with a
  relevant postgraduate qualification, normally a Master’s degree.
• Be unable to afford to study in the UK without the scholarship.
• Submit all required supporting documentation in the required format.

Tanzania is among the eligible countries for this scholarship.

Scholarship Support

The scholarship provides support including:

• Approved return airfare from the Scholar’s home country to the UK.
• Full approved tuition fees.
• Monthly living allowance of £1,712, or £2,000 for Scholars
  studying at universities in the London metropolitan area,
  at the currently stated rates.
• Study travel grant for approved study-related travel.

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants are required to upload:

• Proof of citizenship or refugee status, such as a valid passport
  or national identity card.
• Full transcripts for all higher education qualifications,
  including current transcripts where applicable.
• References from at least two individuals, submitted in PDF format,
  signed and on institutional letterhead or an email clearly showing
  the sender’s details.

How to Apply

Applications to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission are submitted
through the CSC Central online application system.
Applicants must also apply through an approved nominating body,
normally their country’s national nominating agency or an eligible
participating organisation.
