KCMC University Congratulates Dr. Rune Philemon on Outstanding PhD Defense

Today, Dr. Rune Philemon successfully defended his PhD research before members of KCMC University, colleagues from KCMC Hospital and Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI), supervisors, family members, and other distinguished guests who gathered to witness this remarkable academic achievement.

His research, titled “Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus in Kilimanjaro: Maternal Knowledge, Breastfeeding Practices and Trust in Evolving Recommendations,” addressed an important public health topic with significant relevance to maternal and child health.


Dr. Rune conducted his research under the supervision of Prof. Sia Msuya and Prof. Blandina Mmbaga, whose guidance and mentorship contributed greatly to his academic journey.
Following his defense, Dr. Rune was awarded an A grade, reflecting the outstanding quality of his research and presentation.
