Today, we celebrate the successful PhD defense of Shabani R. Mziray, whose research journey has culminated in an insightful and impactful study titled: “Molecular profiling of etiological agents of (re)-emerging infectious diseases with epidemic or pandemic potential in Tanzania.

This work stands as a significant contribution to the scientific community, particularly in strengthening our understanding of infectious disease dynamics in Tanzania and beyond. By applying advanced molecular approaches, Shabani’s research addresses critical global health challenges shedding light on pathogens that continue to pose serious epidemic and pandemic threats. His findings not only advance academic knowledge but also have practical implications for surveillance, preparedness, and response strategies in public health systems.

This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable guidance and mentorship of his dedicated supervisors, Prof. Jafu Chilongola and Prof. Stellah Mpagama, whose expertise and support played a crucial role throughout this rigorous academic journey.
